The Directorate of Finance Welfare Association has climaxed its Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration with dinner.                       

Speaking at the function, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Victorious Hagan Yamoah, thanked members for actively participating in activities of the one-week celebration. He expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and management of the University for rallying behind the Association to make its celebrations a success.

The Directorate of Finance Welfare Association has donated items valued at GH ¢15, 000 to the Cape Coast School for the Deaf.

The items included two desktop computers, assorted food items and toiletries.

Presenting the items, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Victorious Hagan Yamoah, said the donation was their corporate social responsibility to the School. He said the Association decided to make a positive impact in the lives of students in the School as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Former UCC Lecturer Develops Drug for Treating Diabetes Complications

A former lecturer of the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Owusu Akyiaw Bempah, has developed a drug known as Fenomin Tablets for treating diabetes complications.

Dr. Bempah, explained that the tablets were a formulation of vitamin B1, B2 and B5 capable of preventing complications affecting all organs in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Other ingredients of the tablets he mentioned were dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, silica, magnesium stearate.

Alumnus Donates to Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management

An Alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, Mr. Steven Quartelai has donated a stove and a set of books to the Department of Hospitality And Tourism Management. 

Mr. Quartelai, who graduated from the University in the year 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism made the presentation through Prof. Ishmael Mensah, the Ghanaian Director of the Confucius Institute and also a lecturer at the Department.

The Faculty of Law has held the Sixth Roll Call Ceremony for students admitted to pursue Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree programme at the University for the 2018/2019 academic year.

A total of 101 students were inducted into the Faculty of Law at the ceremony. A Justice of the High Court, Mrs. Olivia Obeng-Owusu administered the oath to the students.

The Department of Hospitality and Tourism has launched its 10th Anniversary at a ceremony at the Main Auditorium.

Speaking at the function, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ziblim Barri Iddi, congratulated the Department on achieving such a milestone.  He noted that tourism played a key role in contributing towards the development of Ghana’s economy. “Given the necessary support, tourism can open more opportunities for employment, foreign exchange and generally increase in people’s incomes through the value chain” he noted.
