A delegation from Vodafone Ghana, has called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, at the Council Chamber.

The Head of Product, Mr. Edward Aikins who led the delegation said the visit was to strengthen the relationship between Vodafone Ghana and UCC. He said the relationship between UCC and his organisation should be mutually beneficial to the two partners. “We have been doing a lot of things for other universities but it seems we need to do more to move our relationship with UCC beyond just transaction to a win-win one,” he noted.

A delegation from Jiangsu University (JU), China, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, to explore new areas of collaboration.

The University of Cape Coast and Jiangsu University have been partners since 2009. The visit was aimed at strengthening and expanding the scope of the collaboration.

The University of Cape Coast has graduated 56 qualified medical doctors at the First Session of the 51st Congregation dedicated to the School of Medical Sciences (SMS).                     

The fresh graduates made up of 35 males and 21 females were conferred with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB, ChB) degrees after successfully completing their six-year programme.  This brings the total number of medical doctors produced by UCCSMS to 299 since its inception in 2007.

The aforementioned students to the department have presented plaques to all lecturers in the department as a sign of their appreciation to the lecturers and the department for the wealth of knowledge that they have acquired throughout their course of study. The plaques with the inscription of lectures names and designations were to be place in their offices for easy identification for any visitor who will not be familiar with the names of the lecturers.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, has met a team from Nevada State, United States of America to find areas of possible collaboration between the University and the state of Nevada.

 The Nevada team which was made up of seven officials from the University of Nevada was led by the Deputy Director of Economic Development, Nevada Governor’s Office, Derek Armstrong. Other members were Dr. Mary Croughan, Dr. Mridul Gautam, Dr. Robert Goldberg, Seema Gautam, Dr. Bo Bernhard, Carina Black and Bill Payne.

The University has honoured 86 staff who formally retired in 2018 at a Send Off and Long Service Awards Ceremony.

The retirees comprised 18 senior members, 34 senior and 34 junior staff. The retirees received citations, cash and items ranging from furniture, refrigerators, LED television, generator and gas cooker.

Mr. Kweku Essuon, from the Environmental Health Section who served for 44 years received a table top refrigerator as the longest serving staff of the University.

The University of Cape Coast and the University at Buffalo (UB) have graduated the first cohort of the Leadership Empowerment Programme.

The first cohort of 23 graduates were presented certificates at the graduation ceremony.

The Sandwich Students Christian Fellowship (SSCF) has celebrated 20^th Anniversary of its existence in the University on the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of God’s Faithfulness.”

The two day-celebration was marked with Musical Concert and a Thanksgiving Service. SSCF Choir, Minister Paolo, Minister Cephas Essien, Ramsome Liturgical Arts and other artistes performed at the Musical Concert and each of them thrilled the audience to soul inspiring worship songs as well as danceable tunes which kept them on their feet throughout the programme.

The Second Animal Care and Use in Research Education and Testing (ACURET) Workshop on Laboratory Animal Welfare in Developing Countries has been held at the Sasakawa Centre in the University.

The workshop which attracted participants from South Africa, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Ghana and the United States of America sought to bring to the fore the need to apply and enforce ethical regulations in the handling of animals used for research.

A delegation from the University of Cape Coast has visited Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur and the family to commiserate with them on the death of the former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur at Ridge in Accra.

The delegation led by the Chancellor, Sir Dr. Sam Jonah was made up of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Nancy Thompson, Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, Provost, College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh; Deputy Registrar in charge of Welfare, Mrs. Florence Opare and Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum.
