The 2018 International Summer School has been opened under the auspices of the Centre for Gender Research Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) at Pempamsie hotel.
The summer school will examine the connection between land policies and politics of belonging and how these shape gender relations and influence women’s access to land.
It is also aimed at deepening the understanding and skills that incorporate feminist epistemology and methodology in research.
A three-member team from the Anhui Medical University, China, that is in the University as guests of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) has called on the Vice-Chancellor.
The team on campus as a follow up to an earlier visit by a faculty member from SMS that is the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Dr. Dorcas Obiri Yeboah, to China last year. The Chinese delegation visit was aimed at pursuing further discussions on a possible collaboration between the two institutions.
Authorities of the University Basic Schools have presented six trophies won at the just ended Universities Basic Schools Sports Association games to the management of the University at a short ceremony held at the Council Chamber.
The UCC Basic Schools won five trophies in addition to the overall while their counterparts from the University of Ghana also took home five with University of Mines and Technology and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology taking none.

The Department of Animal Science, School of Agriculture, has organised a one-day training on “Rabbit Farming as a Business” for members of the Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organisation.
The trainer of trainee programme is aimed at equipping the participants to train other farmers in the Upper East Region.
Participants were taken through “Management of Breeding Stock, Feeding, Disease Control and Prevention, Processing of Rabbit Meat and Rabbit Rearing as a Business.”
The National Council of the Distance Students’ Association of Ghana (DESAG) has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, at the Council Chamber, South Campus.
Led by the National President, George Amenyo, the visit was to interact with the Vice-Chancellor and also introduce members of the Council. The National Council of DESAG comprises National Executives and Regional Presidents.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Queen’s University Belfast (QU), Ireland and the University of Cape Coast for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Food Safety, Fraud and Research Centre to be hosted by the School of Agriculture.
A total of 2,687 fresh students have been admitted to pursue various programmes at the University for the 2017/2018 Sandwich year.
Out of this number, 1,865 are postgraduate students and the remaining 822 are pursuing undergraduate programmes.
A delegation from the Virtual University of Cote d’Ivoire has paid a working visit to the University to explore possible areas of collaboration.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast has inaugurated a Chinese Language Laboratory to promote the teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture.
The Laboratory, also called HSK Centre, will also afford the Institute the opportunity to organise HSK Tests for students who hitherto write the test at the University of Ghana, Legon.
