The maiden workshop for faculty, supporting staff and students of University of Cape Coast by the Design Thinking and Innovation Hub (D-Hub) is currently underway. The four (4) weeks session would equip participants with the requisite skills to use design thinking to come up with innovative solutions and ideas to address pertinent societal issues.

 

The Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) of University of Cape Coast in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day has held a day’s forum on the theme, “Gender Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. The theme focuses on women in the context of climate change.

The Department of Optometry and Vision Science, UCC, as part of its commitment to communities in and around the University, has undertaken a week-long community outreach programme where free eye screening and ophthalmic services were provided. The programme was initiated in collaboration with the World Eye Foundation (a local NGO founded by a former student of the Department, Dr. Bismark Owusu-Afriyie), and Mr.

The Ambassador of  France to Ghana, H. E. Annie Sophie Avé, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong.

Welcoming the ambassador, Prof. Boampong expressed gratitude for the visit and was hopeful it will deepen relations between the two. He also presented some souvenirs from UCC to her.

Senior management members drawn from sixteen colleges of education affiliated to the University of Cape Coast have received training on assessment and management at a workshop organized by the Institute of Education, UCC.

The two-day workshop offered the participants the platform to share a common vision and understanding of the best practices of running their respective colleges.

The High Commissioner and the Pro Vice-Chancellor exchanging gifts.

The Nigerian High Commissioner Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe has embarked on an official visit to University. Present to welcome him were the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosemond Boohene, the Registrar, Mr. Jeff Teye E. Onyame, and the Dean of the Office of International Relations, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye.

The GNPC Centre of Excellence in Petroleum Commerce at the Institute for Oil and Gas Studies, University of Cape Coast, in collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has held the 7th Oil and Gas Public Lecture Series and Awards Ceremony at the School of Medical Science Auditorium during which eight postgraduate students were awarded.

 

A 10-member delegation of the UCC@60 Anniversary Planning Committee led by the Chairman, Prof. L. K. Sam Amoah has paid a courtesy call on the Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Sir (Dr). Sam Esson Jonah, at his office in Accra. 

 

The Chairman informed the Chancellor that the Committee was in Accra to brief him on preparations towards the celebrations and the progress made so far.

The Ministry of Energy, has presented an assortment of street-lighting equipment to the University for installation on campus. The donation was as a result of a special arrangement by the Vice-Chancellor to ensure that the campus was well illuminated to either prevent crime or reduce it to the minimum. The items were presented by officials from the Materials Management Unit of the Ministry of Energy and were received by staff from the Electricity Section and the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the University.
