The Minister for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said that the Government intends to support the expansion of the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) across West Africa.
Currently, the only West African institution running the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) is the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Dr. Prempeh was speaking at the UNESCO executive board 207th Session as Ghana’s representative and leader of the delegation.
A Research Fellow at the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Dr. Michael Boakye-Yiadom was invited by the Association of African Universities as Guest Facilitator for the Annual Conference for Student Affairs Practitioners in Kigali-Rwanda.
The conference which was held from Monday 14th– Friday 18th October, 2019 was attended by Deans of Student Affairs, Hall Masters and Wardens, School Psychologists and Counselors. Among participants was the Dean of Students of UCC Prof. Eugene KM Darteh.
The Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast in collaboration with the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, (CIUCC) has organised a China-Africa Urban Development Forum.
The event which was sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Hanban, China was held under the theme: “Towards Building Resilient Cities: Opportunities, Challenges, and Innovations.”
The Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies, UCC and the University of Birmingham (UK) has organised a gender-related research capacity strengthening workshop and a public lecture on ‘Gender Issues and Feminists Research Methodology’ for graduate students and lecturers.
The University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Affiliation Agreement with 10 tertiary institutions at a ceremony on campus.
The institutions are Regent University College of Science and Technology, Methodist University College, School of Anaesthesia-37 Military Hospital, College of Health-Sefwi Asafo and Flosam Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Sciences. The others are Palm Institute, Potters College, Rans-Elliot School of Nursing, Redeemer College of Health, and Thrivus Institue for Biomedical Science and Technology.
The Faculty of Social Sciences has presented awards to 81 students who distinguished themselves academically during the 2018/2019 academic year at its Dean’s Awards ceremony.
The function was on the theme “Academic Excellence and Innovation: Key to National Development”.
The Department of Labour and Human Resource Studies (DOLAHRS), of the School for Development Studies, has held a three-day curriculum development workshop.
The workshop held with sponsorship from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) was aimed at developing Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees as well as short courses for the Department.
The Ghana Science Association (GSA), UCC Branch, has held a handing-over ceremony to usher in new Executives.
In his acceptance speech, the new President, GSA, Prof. Michael Buenor Adinortey, expressed profound gratitude to the former executives and the entire membership of the association for the opportunity and confidence reposed in the new executives to serve the Branch. He indicated he believed that the entire membership would continue to support the smooth running of the association’s affairs.
The School of Business has presented awards to 308 students who excelled in their academic work for the 2017/2018 academic year at the 2019 Deans Awards Ceremony.
Each of the awardees obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.6 and above at the end of the academic year.
The reconstituted Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast has been inaugurated at a ceremony at the Ministry of Education in Accra.
The inauguration became necessary following the end of the term of the previous Council on July 2019.
